Rainbow Bridge National Monument preserves Rainbow Bridge, one of the largest natural bridges in the world. (A bridge is formed by erosion by flowing water, while an arch is formed by wind erosion and/or frost wedging.) The National Monument also includes a section of the largest erg (large sandy desert) ever recorded preserved as Navajo Sandstone. There are two ways to reach Rainbow Bridge: the harder way is by a long 2-day round trip hike, the easier way is by water from Lake Powell. We took the twice-daily tour from Wahweap Marina near Page that includes a 2-hour cruise along Lake Powell there and back.
