Mangrove/Common Black Hawk, Carara NP

The Mangrove and Common Black-Hawk are geographic variants the same species. Those around Carara would most likely be Mangrove B-H. The Common B-H is found breeding as far north as New Mexico and Arizona (where I have seen it). It eats crustaceans like crayfish and crabs, so it is found in riparian corridors. In flight it is superficially similar to Black Vulture.
