Costa Rica is home to well over 800 species of birds. Most are resident but many North American (and a very few South American) migrants also use Costa Rica as their winter home. Among Costa Rica's birds are 50 species of hummingbirds, 70 species of tyrant flycatcher, 40 species of tanager, and over 30 raptor species alone. These are just a few of the over 350 species that we saw on our trip. They are the ones that were close enough, posed well enough, or were in sufficient light enough, to photograph!
