The Northern Gannet (Sula bassana) is a large oceanic seabird that folds its wings and dives from a height to catch fish.  It nests in large colonies on rocky islands around the coasts of the North Atlantic, including in Canada, Scotland and Ireland. In winter, they move as far south as the oceans off Florida and the coast of North Africa.  These images were taken in July 2007 at the colony on the Great Saltee Island, Co. Wexford, off Ireland's southeastern coast.
