Atlantic Puffin, Witless Bay Ecological Reserve

Witless Bay Ecological Reserve protects a small group of islands on the southeast coast of Newfoundland south of St. John's. The islands are home to the largest colony of Atlantic Puffins in North America, as well as large numbers of Murres, Kittiwakes, Leach's Storm-petrels, and gulls. It is not possible to land on the island without a scientific research permit, so all these photos were taken from a tour boat up to 30 metres off the island.
