Round Tower, West Town, Tory
The round tower, stone church walls, and the Tau cross are all that remains of St. Columcille's monastery founded on Tory in the sixth century. The monastery suffered many depredations over the centuries, including from Viking raiders beginning about the 8th century, and from Elizabethan English soldiers at the end of the sixteenth century when it was finally suppressed.
