The morning we were at Skaftafell the wind was blowing gale-force due to a weather system up on the Vatnajökull glacier. As a result, all jeep trips up onto the main glacier were cancelled. So we had to content ourselves by hiking to the Skaftafellsjökull in order to fulfill Julia's wish to walk on a glacier. This meant walking into the 30-40 mph wind!
