Before and after our mule ride to Phantom Ranch we spent 3 days at the South Rim peering into the abyss, from Hermit's Rest on the west end of the park to Desert View at the East entrance. We learned how the Grand Canyon was created by DUDE: Deposition, Uplift, Downcutting and Erosion.
