Þórsmörk is a small region of South Iceland tucked in between the glaciers of Myrdalsjökull and Eyjafjallajökull and the rivers flowing from them. Because it is relatively sheltered it has beautiful meadows and birch forests. As a result it is a favourite place for camping and hiking, not least because it is located along the Landmannalaugar long-distance trail. Most people get there by hiking or by 4-WD buses or other 4WD vehicles. Goðaland, in contrast, is an upland area of deep incised valleys and rocky cliffs to the south of Þórsmörk. It is full of beautiful arctic/alpine flowers and wonderful views across the Myrdalsjökull and Eyjafjallajökull glaciers.
