Icelandic horses are the descendants of the original stock brought to Iceland by the Vikings settlers a thousand years ago or more, They have not been bred with horses from any other part of the world. No other horses are allowed to be imported to Iceland, and if an Icelandic horse is exported then it is not allowed back to Iceland again.
