Jökull means "glacier" in Icelandic. Hoffellsjokull is one of the outlet glaciers of Vatnajökull, a huge icecap glacier that covers the mountains of SE Iceland. Vatnajökull is about 8% of the area of Iceland, by volume the largest glacier in Europe, and rises to over 6,900'.
